Thomas Peak solely writes novels about the eternal land of rays called »Beachlandia«. When Thomas Peak writes, he manifests as Tom Ghostly. Tom Ghostly is a character who thus exists in one way or another ... both in his world and on the fictional level of his »Beachlandia« novels.

Furthermore, Tom Ghostly also functions as a kind of avatar onto which the author can project himself as a writer in order to leave behind himself and his shortcomings. And last but not least, Tom Ghostly helps him to locate himself firmly with both feet within Beachlandia, the eternal land of rays, and to stagger around there in amazement, whether in »ghostly galoshes« or in »normal boots«.

Thomas Peak is not an author—and yet he is a writer. A writer who is not a ghostly boy on days when he is not writing, even though he is called ghostly at times. He doesn't like to participate in everyday social life, is pale almost all year round and spoke little or not at all at school, which is why teachers and classmates sometimes called him a »ghost«. He was born in a German-speaking country only yesterday, as he tends to believe, and now wants to write until time stops—before his soul evaporates—, preferably in completely ghostly skin than in a completely normal one.
